Emergency Room


Fishermen's Community Hospital Emergency Services Department provides urgent and emergent health care 24 hours a day, every day of the year.  The care is delivered by qualified medical professionals in a protected and sanitary environment using advanced state-of-the-art equipment and technology.

The emergency department staff consists of specially skilled and certified doctors and nurses from some of the nation's leding medical schools and universities who are trained to handle life-threatening situations, such as heart attacks, automobile accidents and major illnesses. Their years of experience and extra-caring attitude enables them to in addition to treating minor accidents such as sprains, cuts and abrasions.

Nutritional Services meets the nutritional needs of all patients in accordance with physician’s orders and provides nourishing food to visitors, employees and physicians.  Nutritional support, Medical Nutrition Therapy instruction and consultations are available to inpatients and outpatients by our Dietitian, Billie McGuire, MS, RD, CDE.

Fishermen's Community Hospital surgical services offer the most advanced equipment and a surgical team dedicated to providing high quality care. 

Whether you are admitted as an inpatient or your visit begins in Outpatient Surgery, you'll receive sophisticated care from our physicians and staff.

Laboratory Services

The Laboratory at Fishermen's Hospital is a full-service clinical and diagnostic laboratory focusing on accuracy and efficiency in patent care. Services include blood banking, clinical chemistry, cytology, hematology, microbiology, serology and surgical pathology.

The Laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Most tests are performed in-house with results available the same day.

 

The Laboratory is accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the State of Florida for moderate and high-complexity testing.

Respiratory Therapy

Cariopulmonary Department

The Fishermen's Community Hospital Cardiopulmonary Department provides diagnostic testing, treatments and care to patients suffering from lung and heart disorders. Diagnosis of heart disease is the key to proper treatment and prevention of a heart attack.

From cardiac stress testing to extensive cardio-pulmonary tests, the Fishermen's Community Hospital Cardiopulmonary Department offers every service available at larger hospitals. The department is staffed with registered respiratory therapists, certified respiratory therapy technicians, cardiac ultrasound technologists and cardiopulmonary technicians. Cardiopulmonary is an integral part of patient care services at Fishermen's Community Hospital. Providing services in inpatient and outpatient settings, the department screens for heart and lung disorders. Nationally certified therapists provide treatment for those diagnosed with respiratory diseases.

Physical Thereapy

Combining the expertise of certified, trained and experienced personnel with physician leadership, advanced equipment and established treatment plans, Fishermen's Hospital Rehabilitation Services program is the catalyst by which patients return to their normal activities of living, working and playing. Through the provision of these services on an inpatient and an outpatient basis through its centers in Marathon and the Big Pine Key Medical Complex, the program offers a wide range of services including Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy.

Staffed with registered pharmacists and technicians, the Pharmacy Department at Fishermen's Community Hospital works with your physician to accurately supply your medication.  Pharmaceutical services include IV preparations, unit dosing, self-administered intravenous medications (PCA), total nutritional supplements (TPN) and drug information/poison control during your hospitalization.
