Intensive Care Unit
A blend of the finest medical skills, advanced technology, and personalized care, provide the best in specialized patient care at Fishermen's Hospital. This 6-bed unit is staffed by nurses specially trained in critical care. Constant attention for medical/surgical, critically ill and cardiac patients is provided utilizing sophisticated monitoring equipment. Physicians, nurses and other health care professionals such as dieticians and respiratory therapists provide coordinated treatment programs.
Patients are admitted that require specialized or intensive nursing care, which is coordinated by the critical care nurse to include other disciplines as necessary.

a. To coordinate the patient’s plan of care involving an interdisciplinary approach including physician, hospital staff, patient and family.
b. To provide exemplary medical care to the patient and to provide education concerning medication, pain management, and use of medical equipment to patients and family members.
c. To provide psychosocial, emotional and spiritual support and intervention to patients and family members.
d. To ensure patient safety in a caring environment by providing well-trained and knowledgeable staff.
e. To provide direct observation and monitoring.
