EDITOR:

While recently vacationing in the Keys, my wife and I were driving into Marathon. As we arrived, I was hit with nausea, fever, chills and the most acute abdominal pains I had ever experienced. Luckily we were close to Fishermen's Hospital.

I was taken to the emergency room, where I was admitted. Hospital staff immediately began a medical evaluation. Dr. Stephen Harkness was called in and ordered further testing. Dr. Harkness got a surgical team together and the following day, successfully removed my highly infected and ruptured appendix.

I have had several hospital and doctor experiences in my 73 years, but none better than the care and competence of Dr. Harkness and the entire staff of Fishermen's Hospital. We are deeply indebted for their care, compassion, personal kindness and assistance. The people of Marathon should be very proud of your hospital, excellent physicians and staff.
